С такой высоты и просто крупные куски камня кидать вместо бомб — мало не покажется. Я в 2001 году подсчитал:

A large enough rock, equipped with attitude-correction thrusters, can be delivered to low earth orbit by a rocket or a space shuttle, and dropped...

Suppose it's a two-ton rock and a half of it burns off during descent. A 1-ton rock impacting at a terminal velocity of 7 kilometers per second will yield kinetic energy (KE) of KE = 1/2 x (mv^2), or

1/2 x (1,000 kg x 7000 m/s ^2) = 2.45 x 10^10 Joules, or 24.5 Gigajoules.

That is equivalent to roughly six tons of TNT.
